The White Rose (Weiße Rose) was a German resistance group formed in 1942 by students and a professor at the University of Munich. Led by Hans Scholl, Sophie Scholl, Christoph Probst, Alexander Schmorell, Willi Graf, and Kurt Huber, they opposed the Nazi regime by distributing leaflets and painting slogans against the Nazis. The group was arrested in 1943, and several members were executed, including Hans and Sophie Scholl, and Christoph Probst.  The White Rose continues to be studied and remembered as a symbol of resistance and courage against oppression.
